Section 1 consists of three parts:

Part A: Thinking Skills. This compulsory section includes 22 multiple-choice questions, evenly divided between Critical Thinking and Problem Solving.

Part B: Mathematics and Biology. Candidates choose between this part and Part C. It contains 30 multiple-choice questions, split equally between Mathematics and Biology, assessing the application of relevant knowledge.

Part C: Reading Comprehension. An alternative to Part B, this section features 24 multiple-choice questions across three tasks, evaluating the ability to understand and interpret written material.

Candidates are required to complete Part A and select either Part B or Part C, with a total time allocation of 80 minutes for Section 1. It’s advisable to spend approximately 40 minutes on Part A and 40 minutes on the chosen additional part.
