Business Studies A Level Tutors

I am an experienced Business and Economics teacher, examiner, and tutor with more than 20 years’ experience in UK and international education. Throughout my career, I have held a range of senior leadership positions, including Head of Business, Head of Business and Economics, Head of Economics and Business Studies, and Curriculum Director of Business and Economics. I have extensive experience teaching A Level Business, helping students develop a secure understanding of key concepts while building the analytical, numerical and evaluative skills required for examination success. My lessons are carefully structured and tailored to each learner, with complex topics broken down into clear, manageable steps. I use current business and economic examples to make the subject relevant and engaging, while placing a strong emphasis on exam technique, command words, data-response questions and well-supported written evaluation. In addition, I teach Business at GCSE and IB and Economics at A Level and IB, as well as BTEC Business at Levels 2 and 3 and International Foundation Programme qualifications. I also support students with UCAS personal statements and university preparation. My students have consistently exceeded their target grades and progressed to leading universities. Alongside my teaching experience, I have worked as an Edexcel examiner for more than 15 years and as a Team Leader for A Level Economics. This gives me detailed insight into assessment objectives, mark schemes and the qualities examiners look for in high-scoring responses. I use this expertise to help students avoid common mistakes, write with greater precision and apply their knowledge effectively under timed conditions. I have taught students with a wide range of abilities and educational backgrounds, including those requiring EAL, SEND and dyslexia support. My approach is patient, encouraging and student-centred, with a strong focus on developing confidence, independence and long-term academic skills. I hold a PGCE in Secondary Business and Economics Education with Qualified Teacher Status from the University of London’s Institute of Education, as well as a BSc (Hons) in Economics from the University of Warwick. I currently teach GCSE and A Level Business and Economics at LVS Ascot and remain committed to helping every student achieve their full academic potential.

I tutor Business Studies up to A Level and also lecture at a London business school across a range of disciplines, including finance, accounting, economics, mathematics and marketing. I hold an MA (Hons) in Mathematical Economics from the University of Essex and a BA (Hons) in Economics from the University of East Anglia. Alongside Business Studies, I tutor A Level Mathematics, Economics, Accounting and Sociology. My approach combines education with coaching. I enjoy helping students become the very best they can be and aim to support them through clear teaching, encouragement and practical guidance. In addition to my A Level teaching, I mentor GCSE Mathematics students and prepare pupils for 11+ entrance examinations, with students gaining places at a range of competitive selective and independent schools. Before entering academia, I spent 30 years working in the City as an Executive Director. My leadership experience has included roles as a Public Company Director, mentor and coach, and I am highly experienced in corporate finance. This background allows me to bring substantial commercial and organisational experience to my teaching of A Level Business Studies. I have also spoken at public forums on topics including leadership, disability, finance and values. These experiences, together with my work in senior business roles and higher education, have shaped an approach that is focused on helping students develop their understanding and confidence.

I am an experienced tutor with a strong academic and professional background in Business, Economics and Politics. I tutor A Level Business alongside A Level and IB Economics and Politics. I hold an MA in Economics and Management from the University of Oxford, an MPhil in European Politics, Economics and Society from Oxford, and a PhD in European Politics and International Relations from the University of Athens. I have taught in a range of educational settings, including an independent international school in Athens, UK tutoring platforms and international revision courses. I have also worked as a university lecturer at the University of Thrace, where I taught government and politics for two years. My particular strength is simplifying difficult terminology and complex concepts through clear, everyday examples. This helps students approach unfamiliar material with greater confidence and develop a more practical understanding of the subject. My teaching style is approachable and detailed, with a strong emphasis on repetition, precision and exam technique. My interdisciplinary experience allows me to help students understand how business decisions are shaped by economic conditions, political institutions and the wider commercial environment. Before focusing on teaching, I spent 20 years working in director, management and team-leading roles with young research analysts in NGOs and consultancies. This professional experience supports my Business teaching by giving me a practical understanding of organisations, management and decision-making. Through my combination of academic knowledge, professional experience and accessible teaching, I aim to help students understand challenging Business concepts and approach their studies with greater clarity and confidence.

I enjoy motivating, developing life skills and instilling confidence in young people. Education is the lifeblood of a successful life and teaching children how to learn is a key stepping-stone to happiness, confidence and success in life.

I have worked in education, within both the state and private systems, for over 15 years. I have taught and examined on GCSE and A Level Business and Economics qualifications for a number of years and I lecture part-time at Exeter University.

I have a passion for 1-1 tuition and a love of my subjects. I have many years of teaching experience and have helped countless students achieve top grades in Business & Economics.
