How We Support Gifted and Talented Students

Many parents like to begin with an hour-long consultation with one of our Gifted and Talent Consultants. This takes the form of an advisory session for parents on how best to support their gifted children, taking into account your child’s strengths, experiences at school, and ambitions. Following the completion of the consultation we can arrange bespoke follow-on individual tutoring sessions in order to help your child meet the agreed goals.

A gifted child can be top of their class in maths and English and therefore considered to be ‘doing really well at school’. In fact, though, many such children are really coasting in class and are not nearly reaching their full potential. They can get bored very easily and switch off from learning. A gifted and talented tutor will have them working at a level beyond the school curriculum, ensuring they are stretched, engaged, and challenging themselves to reach their considerable potential.

Gifted children can often finish standard homework in seconds, but typically find it difficult when they are faced with real challenges because they’ve always found everything so easy. This means they tend to get very frustrated and give up too easily, as they have not built up any resilience or techniques to try to solve these types of problems. This can cause difficulties later on in their academic and professional careers if it is not addressed. Working 1-1 with a tutor, they will continually be challenged and will develop the learning mindset and problem-solving skills which will help them continue to thrive.
