What is Included in the GCSE Physics Syllabus?

The GCSE Physics syllabus varies between exam boards. However, there are several core topics which are common to all syllabuses:

Students explore speed, velocity, acceleration, and Newton’s laws. They learn how forces affect the movement of objects.

This section covers energy transfers, conservation of energy, and efficiency in systems. It includes an in-depth look at kinetic and potential energy.

Students study electrical circuits, learning about current, voltage, and resistance, while practising with circuit diagrams and electrical components.

This includes the properties of sound and light waves, as well as the electromagnetic spectrum and its practical applications.

This part of the syllabus introduces the concepts of magnetic fields and electromagnetism, explaining how electricity and magnetism are interconnected.

Students learn about the behaviour of solids, liquids, and gases. They explore how matter changes between these states.

This section focuses on atoms, isotopes, and radioactivity, covering different types of radiation, their uses, and their potential hazards.
