FAQs

The ACT is a standardised test used for college admissions in the United States. It assesses a student’s readiness for university-level work and plays a key role in the admissions process for many US universities.

The ACT consists of sections in English, Mathematics, and Reading, with optional Science and Writing sections. Each section is scored individually, with a composite score ranging from 1 to 36.

The best moment to begin tutoring for the ACT is the summer after your GCSEs, before you enter your second-to-last school year. Starting then gives you plenty of time to get to grips with the material, sharpen your approach, and grow your confidence. It also leaves room to sit the test again if you’d like to aim for a higher score.

Our ACT tutors are graduates of leading US colleges with a proven track record of improving students’ scores. They all undergo training from our expert team before tutoring our students.

Both exams are long and strictly timed, though the SAT allows a little extra time per question. Its questions also tend to be trickier, often needing more careful analysis. Students who qualify can request extended time for either test. We recommend trying each one in full exam conditions, and we offer supervised practice sessions either online or at our Central London office.
