How do you apply to study in France?
Applying to French universities depends on your nationality, level of study, and chosen institution. Many international students use the Parcoursup platform for undergraduate entry, while others apply via the Études en France system or directly to the university.
For example, undergraduate applicants to Sorbonne University usually apply through Parcoursup, while selective institutions such as Sciences Po or École Polytechnique have their own admissions with essays, tests, or interviews.
You’ll typically need transcripts, proof of language ability, and sometimes a motivation letter or references. With different routes into French higher education, careful planning is key if you want to study in France.
