Dyslexia Tutors

I am a primary tutor, qualified teacher, and former SENCO with experience supporting pupils with dyslexia and other SEND. I have more than 20 years of primary teaching experience, including many years as a SENCO, Assistant Headteacher, English Lead and Assessment Lead. I coached and mentored teachers, developing extensive knowledge of the primary curriculum and effective teaching practice. I specialise in Phonics, English and Maths from the Early Years Foundation Stage through to Key Stage 2. I deliver bespoke, carefully structured sessions tailored to each pupil’s academic profile, individual needs and aspirations. I hold a BSc (Hons) in Sociology and a PGCE in Primary Education from the University of Leicester. I have supported primary-aged pupils from a range of educational backgrounds, helping them become fluent readers, articulate and technically accurate writers, and confident mathematical thinkers. My teaching is focused on securing sustained progress and measurable outcomes. I take a personalised, child-centred approach, getting to know each pupil so that lessons can be adapted to their individual needs. I use clear modelling, scaffolding and structured routines to make learning accessible while maintaining high expectations. Having attended leading international and boarding schools, I understand the academic expectations of these environments and provide considered guidance to both pupils and their families. I aim to build trust with my pupils, support them through challenges and celebrate their progress. I ensure lessons are engaging and purposeful while developing confidence, independence and a love of learning.

I am a primary English and Maths tutor with experience supporting pupils with dyslexia, as well as learners with other SEND. I specialise in teaching English and Maths across Key Stages 1 and 2. I use a comprehensive phonics programme to help younger children develop their reading and writing skills. I also support older pupils with creative writing, encouraging them to use interesting vocabulary to challenge themselves and extend their work. I help pupils prepare for SATs and the 11+. I studied Primary Education at Nottingham Trent University and am also a qualified Montessori teacher. I use the Montessori philosophy in my daily teaching. I have 25 years of primary teaching experience, as well as experience in Montessori education. I have taught international pupils with very little spoken English, supporting their spoken language acquisition and teaching them phonics, reading and writing. I have successfully tutored pupils from a range of independent schools, including Fairfield Prep School, Loughborough Amherst, Loughborough Grammar and Ratcliffe College. My lessons are fun and engaging. I assess each pupil’s progress and plan lessons according to their individual needs. I have also served as an LECT delegate, representing UK teachers in Canada to compare education systems. My report was presented to governors at a Birmingham school, and my article was published in Education Now magazine.

I am an English, Maths and Science tutor with experience supporting students with dyslexia, ADHD and other special educational needs. I specialise in preparing students for the 7+, 8+, 9+, 10+, 11+ and 13+ entrance examinations, including pre-tests and Common Entrance assessments. I teach English up to Key Stage 3 and Maths and Science up to Key Stage 4, including GCSE Maths. I have more than 10 years of tutoring experience and have successfully supported students in gaining places at competitive state-selective and independent schools, including City of London, Eton, King’s College, Latymer, St Paul’s and Westminster. I began my career in investment banking and was inspired to become a tutor after successfully supporting my son in gaining a place at Westminster School. I am a results-driven tutor with a strong commitment to supporting and enhancing each student’s education. I am a Maths tutor with experience supporting students with dyslexia, as well as learners with ADHD and other SEND. I specialise in teaching Maths from Key Stage 3 through to A Level and IB, including A Level Further Maths. I also prepare students for the 11+, 13+, 14+ and 16+ entrance examinations, Common Entrance, Functional Skills and IGCSEs. In addition, I support students with Oxbridge applications and STEP preparation. I hold a Master’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Bristol. I have more than 12 years of one-to-one and small-group teaching experience and have tutored hundreds of students. I also have extensive experience working with Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 pupils through the National Tutoring Programme. Although I no longer teach these age groups, this work gave me valuable experience of group teaching and supporting children with a wide range of educational profiles. I have always enjoyed Maths and bring this enthusiasm to my lessons. I adapt my teaching to each student’s personality, learning style, strengths and areas for improvement. My approach places a strong emphasis on past-paper and exam-style questions. I encourage students to attempt problems independently before providing guidance, helping them learn how to apply mathematical methods across a range of familiar and less conventional situations. When I identify gaps in understanding, I revisit the relevant concepts in greater depth before returning to question practice. I also help students develop effective exam technique and time-management skills. Above all, I aim to create a supportive and encouraging environment in which students feel comfortable asking questions and engaging fully with their learning.

I am a Religious Studies, Philosophy and Government and Politics tutor with experience supporting students with dyslexia, as well as learners with ADHD and mental health. I studied Theology, Religion and Philosophy of Religion at Clare College, University of Cambridge. I also completed two elective terms in Management Studies at the University of Cambridge’s Judge Business School. I specialise in preparing students for A Level, IB, GCSE and IGCSE examinations. I teach Religious Studies and Theology at GCSE and A Level across OCR, AQA and Edexcel; A Level Philosophy with AQA; and A Level Government and Politics across OCR, AQA and Edexcel. I also support students with essay-writing and revision skills, the IB Extended Essay, the EPQ, Business Management and Marketing, and undergraduate humanities studies. In addition, I help students prepare for independent school entrance and scholarship examinations and interviews. I also support university applications, including UCAS personal statements, Oxbridge applications and interviews, and Oxford and Cambridge Philosophy and Theology assessments. My careers and application support includes CVs, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles, assessments and graduate interviews. My approach to tutoring focuses on building each student’s confidence and mastery of foundational concepts before progressing to more complex ideas. I have taught students in the UK, Hong Kong and Laos. I have worked as a GCSE Religious Studies examiner and have written 15 A Level revision guides for Religious Studies and Philosophy. I have also produced revision resources for specialist education platforms, including Save My Exams, and was Editor of the Wilberforce Society’s policy paper on The Future of Online Education. I have successfully supported students who achieved top A*/9 grades at GCSE and A Level and received offers from universities including Oxford and Cambridge, Durham, King’s College London, Bristol and St Gallen.

I am a Business and Economics tutor with experience supporting students with dyslexia, as well as learners with other SEND. I am an experienced secondary school teacher, examiner and tutor specialising in Business, Economics and BTEC qualifications. I teach Business at GCSE, IGCSE, A Level and IB; Economics at IGCSE, A Level and IB; and BTEC Business at Levels 2 and 3. I also support students studying International Foundation Programmes and those preparing UCAS personal statements. I hold a BSc (Hons) in Economics from the University of Warwick and a PGCE in Secondary 14–19 Business and Economics Education with Qualified Teacher Status from the University of London’s Institute of Education. I have more than 20 years of teaching experience in the UK and internationally. During my career, I have held senior leadership roles including Head of Business, Head of Business and Economics, Head of Economics and Business Studies, and Curriculum Director of Business and Economics. I also have more than 15 years of experience as an Edexcel examiner and Team Leader for A Level Economics. This insight allows me to help students strengthen their subject knowledge, refine their exam technique and maximise their outcomes. I have successfully supported students to exceed their target grades and secure places at leading universities. I tailor my teaching to each student, breaking complex ideas into clear, manageable steps and using structured, engaging lessons to build confidence, independence and exam technique.
