You have the option to gain a UCAS-accredited qualification on completing the dentistry summer school. This will provide you with UCAS points to support your application to university or dental school.

Learn the fundamentals of modern dentistry – from consulting with patients and reading x-rays to performing dental surgery. With a mixture of interactive lessons and incredible immersive simulations, you’ll master the theory and practice of some of the key skills needed to become a dentist.

Test your skills in a simulated dental surgery, practising real-life patient consultations and diagnostics. There’s also the chance to use virtual reality and phantom heads equipment to simulate realistic dental procedures. Plus, the dentistry summer school includes a visit to a London dental practice with the opportunity to exercise your patient consultation and diagnosis skills.

Our summer schools are about more than lectures and workshops. A varied programme of social activities, excursions, and special events gives students time to relax, make friends, explore London, and celebrate their achievements.

Residential students can enjoy a varied programme of evening activities designed to bring the group together in a relaxed setting. Depending on the programme, activities may include movie nights, a board game café, sports and games, wellness evenings, quizzes, scavenger hunts, and craft nights.

An exclusive evening of professional connection

Reserved exclusively for students on the 2-Week Enhanced programme, the gala dinner is one of the most memorable occasions of the summer. Held on the penultimate evening, it brings students together for a formal dinner and a special networking event with professionals.

It offers valuable exposure to professional conversations and networks at an early stage – as well as a memorable way to mark the end of the programme.

Dr Jhanvi Mehta, Associate Dentist and dentistry professional on the Dentist Summer Experience

Jhanvi is an Associate Dentist at Dental Beauty WGC. She qualified from King’s College London, and after completing her vocational training, worked at a Senior House officer in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for the London North West University Healthcare Trust, acquiring experience in facial trauma, head and neck cancer and complex oral surgery.

Dr Sinclair Butcher, Clinical Lecturer at Queen Mary and dentistry professional on the Dentist Summer Experience

Sinclair has worked in several dental practices where he completed a PG Certificate in Dental Law and Ethics and a Certificate in Restorative dentistry. Currently he is undertaking a 3 year MSc course in Endodontics. He has been a Clinical Lecturer at Queen Mary’s in the Adult Restorative Department since 2011. He is also a core examiner for the Royal College of Surgeon’s LDS examinations.

Dr Saul Konsiver, General Dentist and dentistry professional on the Dentist Summer Experience

Saul is a General Dentist working at Family Practice, focusing on restorative dentistry with an interest in Sports Dentistry. He holds a degree in Physiology & Pharmacology, a Masters in International Healthy Policy and a Bachelor of Dental Surgery. He trained within NHS dentistry before moving into private practice.

Dr Evie Hay, dentistry professional on the Dentist Summer Experience

Evie qualified from King’s College Dental School in 2019 having previously worked in research as a biomedical scientist. Since 2019 she has gone on to gain certification in IV/RA conscious sedation for the more nervous patients and is currently studying for a postgraduate diploma in advanced aesthetic restorative dentistry & endodontics.

Dr Ian Arad, orthodontist and dentistry professional on the Dentist Summer Experience

Ian is a passionate orthodontist, fully trained in Invisalign, Damon and Lingual Orthodontics. He studied biochemistry at Dundee University and dentistry at King’s College London. During his time in private practice and hospitals, he was awarded his diploma in Membership of the Joint Dental Faculties of The Royal College of Surgeons of England and published in orthodontic literature.

Dr Charlotte Leigh, dentistry professional on the Dentist Summer Experience

Charlotte began working at Luton and Dunstable Hospital in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is now working in general practice. She completed a Masters in Restorative Dental Practice at the Eastman Dental Institute and has a particular interest in sleep and the management of snoring. Charlotte also volunteers with the Dental Wellness Trust and Crisis.

Course Content

What Will I Learn?

On our dentistry summer school, you’ll receive an incredible induction into the career of a dentist – through a simulated dental clinic, practice surgery, and coaching from seasoned professionals.

Enter a simulated dentistry practice. You’ll become familiar with key dental equipment and procedures, and learn how dentists approach patient consultations, treatment, and follow-up care.

Learn how to assess patient cases, interpret dental X-rays, and identify potential oral health problems. You’ll consider different treatment options and develop appropriate care plans for a range of clinical scenarios.

Develop the precision and hand control required in dentistry through hands-on exercises. You’ll practise skills including dental scaling, taking impressions, suturing, and working with phantom heads and dental typodonts.

Explore the human side of dentistry, from managing patient anxiety to communicating difficult information with empathy. You’ll also consider approaches to pain management and debate ethical dilemmas faced by dental professionals.

Learn how to stand out in your applications to dental schools. You’ll work on your personal statement, practise interviews and MMI stations, and receive guidance from dentists with experience of the admissions process.

A Recognised Certificate of Achievement

After graduation, every student can earn a personalised digital certificate recognising their achievement to use on their UCAS applications.

Students who attend a 2-Week Summer Experience will also receive an industry reference letter, signed by professionals, outlining what they have achieved over the course of the programme.

We can also be included in the UCAS extra activities section, and we are an approved provider for the Gold Residential section of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

Earn UCAS Points for Your University Application

Students who complete the 2-Week or 2-Week Enhanced programme will have the chance to earn a Level 3 Work Experience qualification, worth 8 UCAS points – a boost for UK university applications.

This programme offers students the chance to try dental procedures through dental surgery simulations, interact with professional dentists, and gain personalised career advice. It’s a perfect mix of hands-on experience, academic preparation, and networking.

To secure your place, you can choose to make the whole payment upfront, or to pay a deposit of £950, with the remainder of the payment taken nearer the programme start date.

Absolutely. Around half of our students are from the UK or US, with the other half from other countries around the world. We have welcomed students from 100 nationalities and are proud to have a global student community.

You need to have a minimum English level of B2 (intermediate) to attend this course.

Yes. About half of our students attend as day students. The programme content is exactly the same for day and residential attendees.

We do not have an application process. Bookings for our dentistry summer school are taken on a first come, first served basis.

No. We do not expect any of our students to have any prior knowledge, simply a keen interest in dentistry!

We introduce each topic at an introductory level, with guidance from our industry professionals. There are also opportunities to work towards more advanced concepts where students feel comfortable.
