The Future City 2050 Festival — Imagining Tomorrow

The Future City 2050 Festival invites students to envision a city of the future and bring it vividly to life. Throughout the week, groups collaborate across subjects to design how the city looks, functions, and grows — from its architecture and transport systems to the science, art, and culture that shape daily life.

At the end of the Future City Festival, English Adventurers step forward as the voice of the imagined city. Students deliver live news broadcasts, interviews, and on-the-ground reports written and performed in English. The showcase demonstrates their confidence in using language publicly — showing clear communication, teamwork, and the ability to adapt tone and style for an audience.

Write and Produce a News Broadcast

In the first week, students write and perform a news bulletin set in the year 2050. Working in teams, they script and rehearse a broadcast that reports on events unfolding in the future city. Anchors, correspondents, and interviewees each take a role, creating a lively and convincing programme that feels immediate and engaging.

Create and Present a Feature Story

In the second week, students create a live feature piece exploring daily life in the city they have imagined. This might cover a scientific advance, an artistic showcase, or the launch of a new start-up. Using descriptive language and narrative detail, they bring scenes to life and present their report as if speaking directly to the citizens of 2050.

English Adventures is a two-week language journey designed to build confidence, fluency, and self-expression for students at every level — from beginner to advanced. Lessons go beyond grammar and vocabulary, equipping you with the skills to communicate with clarity, creativity, and style in both academic discussions and everyday conversations.

Through projects, excursions, and fieldwork, the classroom opens into the world around you, transforming English learning into a living, shared experience. By the end of the course, you’ll have not only strengthened your language skills but also developed the confidence to express yourself on a global stage.

Module 1: Communication in Action
Enhance your speaking and listening skills through engaging debates, role-plays, and real-life communication tasks. You’ll learn to express your ideas clearly, respond thoughtfully, and adapt your tone and language to suit different situations — from everyday conversations to formal discussions.

Module 2: Language for Exploration
Strengthen your reading and writing skills through creative and academic projects inspired by culture, history, and current events. You’ll experiment with different writing styles, from storytelling to article writing, while expanding your vocabulary and deepening your understanding of how English shapes meaning.

Module 3: English Beyond the Classroom
