The Global Summit
At Oxford College, the Global Summit unfolds over two weeks of debate, strategy, and collaboration. In the first week, students take their seat at the summit table as delegates responding to urgent global challenges. In the second week, the focus shifts to the Interdisciplinary Grand Challenge, where students from different subjects work together on problems too complex for one discipline alone.
At the summit showcase, Faculty of Law students step into a mock international courtroom. Each team presents its case, laying out arguments, questioning evidence, and delivering closing statements.
Prepare and Present an International Case
In the first week, students work in teams to argue a legal case. Some act as advocates, others as advisers. They study the scenario, gather evidence, and shape persuasive arguments. During the showcase, they present before a panel acting as judges, who ask questions before reaching a verdict.
Shape the Legal Framework for Global Solutions
In the second week, law students collaborate with peers from Business, Medicine, and Global Leadership in the Interdisciplinary Grand Challenge. Their role is to provide the legal perspective — identifying rights, applying treaties, and determining how responsibility should be shared. In the final Global Summit presentation, they explain how legal reasoning helps create fair, workable solutions to global crises.
Industry Experience — See Law in Action
Gain first-hand insight into the legal profession through our industry experience sessions. Students visit courts, law firms, or the legal departments of major organisations, where they can observe proceedings, speak with practitioners, and understand how legal decisions are made in real settings. This experience reveals the pace, precision, and responsibility that define professional legal work.
Guest Speaker Masterclasses
The programme also features guest speakers who are leaders in their field. These legal experts share their career journeys, discuss current developments in law, and offer practical guidance on building a successful legal career. It is an opportunity to learn directly from those shaping the legal landscape today.
